Brian Dowdall grew up wandering the mountains around his Montana
home and has not stopped wandering since. As he trekked across the U.S. and Mexico,
he landed odd jobs to keep himself clothed and fed. He has picked tomatoes with
migrant workers, dug ditches, worked in a Chinese noodle factory, run a worm farm,
silkscreened bowling shirts, and laid tar roofs. In his late forties, he now calls
Florida home; and his passion is transforming discarded cardboard into surfaces
teeming with animal life. Brian uses acrylic and housepaint to create his "animal
spirit paintings," drawing his inspiration for his exuberant colors from "the
sun, moon, and fire, the earth, trees, and water." |
