Bio: |
Don Sawyer was born in Monterey, California and grew up in Dothan, Alabama. He was in the USMC and is a highly decorated Viet Nam Veteran. In 1972 he began a career in Real Estate in Montgomery, Alabama. He has always dabbled in art, but didn't begin painting seriously until 1994 when he was struck with a temporary paralysis. Eventually art took over, and he retired from Real Estate.His first painting were done on cow skulls, cardboard, paper sacks, or just about anything he could find to use as a canvas. He is a completely self-taught artist, never having an art lesson. Consequently, he has developed a very unique style. He teaches himself through study, experimentation and lots of practice. Don and his wife Claire have established quite a following in the Florida panhandle over the years. Enjoy the work.
